Brief Description

Situated to the east of the Wakhan corridor this is an un spoilt area which offer one of the classic treks from Chitral to Hunza. Going past Tirich Mir 7708m and central Hindukush mountains, you start the trek with lush valleys, move to rugged landscape, glacier crossing before you take on the two high passes Darkot pass 4757m and the unknown Atar pass 4590m. On route you get to meet the friendly Kho & Wakhi tribes on their high pastures, with the best of mountain scenery the Thui peaks, skirting below the Koyo Zom with views from the Atar pass deep into the Karakorum mountains this is a popular trek with our clients. The trek build up wonderful from the Yarkhun valley to acclimatize you before you reach higher altitude and descend into Ishkuman valley to Hunza.

Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival Islamabad. Transfer to hotel. Trek briefing for permit. Hotel

Day 02: Drive over Lowari pass 3118m to our private family Fort at Ayun. Home stay

Day 03: Visit Alexander’s lost tribe the Kalash of the Hindukush . Ayun Fort home stay.

Day 04: A day in Chitral town exploring bazaars and Forts. Hotel

Day 05: Drive into the Yarkhun river valley to Power . Camp.

Day 06: Drive on to Lasht village . Camp.

Day 07: Trek to the wakhi settlement at Kismanjana 6 hrs. Camp.

Day 08: Trek to the pastures of Ishkarwarz on the Boroghil 5/6 hrs. Camp

Day 09: Rest explore Boroghil. Camp

Day 10: Trek to the Wakhi hamlets at Chikar. Camp.

Day 11: Trek up to base camp beside Darkot Glacier. Camp.

Day 12: Cross the Darkot glacier and Pass 4650m on to Rawat. Camp.

Day 13: Trek to the orchard of Darkot village. 4/5 hrs Camp

Day 14: Trek to shepherd hut at base of Atar pass 5/6 hrs camp

Day 15: Trek cross Atar pass to the lovely Mathantar Lake 7/8 hrs Camp

Day 16: Trek through pastures to the village of Ghotolti 5 hrs Camp

Day 17: Drive to the fabled Karimabad Hunza. Hotel

Day 18: Free day explore Baltit the traditional capital of Hunza. Hotel

Day 19: Drive on the Karakorum highway to Chilas. Hotel

Day 20: Drive to Rawalpindi.. Hotel

Day 21: Transfer to airport for International flight
